The American Red Cross is hoping that two blood drives in Indiana County can help replenish some depleted blood supplies.
The two drives are scheduled for Friday, December 28th at the Cherryhill Township Fire Department and on New Year’s Eve at the Indiana Mall. During the holiday season, the Red Cross sees a noticeable drop in their blood supplies, as there aren’t a lot of people who come out to the blood drives. One reason, according to Karen Sistek, is that people just get busy during the holidays. She added that the colds also keep some donors away.
All blood types are needed during these blood drives. The Cherryhill Township Fire Department blood drive is from 1:30 to 6 on Friday and the Indiana Mall Blood Drive will go from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM. And during these blood drives, those who donate will receive, while supplies last, a Red Cross T-shirt.
Walk-ins are always welcome, but if you want to schedule your appointment, call the Red Cross at 1-800-Red Cross or log on to www.redcrossblood.org
