At a reception last night at the Indiana Elks Lodge, seventeen finalists were announced for this year’s Leader’s Circle of Indiana County awards.
There are some changes to the program this year, including a move to the fall of the year instead of spring, and the addition of a new category…the Young Professional ATHENA Award will join the ATHENA Award and the Male and Female Civic Leader Awards.
Listed alphabetically, here are the finalists in each category:
Young Professional ATHENA:

ATHENA:

- Dr. Laura Helmrich-Rhodes – nominated by Skip McGreevy
- Sherene Hess – nominated by Kay Smith, Indiana Rotary board member
Male Civic Leader:
- Anthony Frazier – nominated by Dana Henry
- Bernard W. Lockard, Jr. – nominated by Indiana Lions Club
- Luke Shively – nominated by Anew Home Health Agency Inc.
Female Civic Leader:
- Denise Chresos-Rebo – nominated by the Indiana Business and Professional Women
- Jessica Clark – nominated by Health and Human Services
- Megan Foulk – nominated by Quota of Indiana
- Barbara Hauge – nominated by the League of Women Voters
- Denise Jennings-Doyle – nominated by the Homer Center Historical Society
- Laurie Kuzneski – nominated by the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce

The ATHENA Award honors a woman or a man who is recognized for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.
The Young Professional ATHENA Award, a new category introduced this year, honors an emerging professional who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession.
The Male and Female Civic Leader of the Year Awards recognize local residents who have demonstrated sustained volunteer service, contributions and accomplishments made on behalf of Indiana County.
